Zahara Jolie officially renounces the Pitt surname

The daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Zahara, has officially renounced her father’s surname. On September 28, a court in Los Angeles granted her request to change her name from «Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt» to «Zahara Marley Jolie», - according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Judge Virginia Kinne noted that there were no objections and signed the corresponding order. Zahara, 21, was represented at the hearing by her attorney, Peter Kenneth Levin.
Zahara began distancing herself from the Pitt surname while attending Spelman College, where she introduced herself as «Zahara Marley Jolie» when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority in 2023 and was also identified this way at her graduation in May.
It was previously reported that Zahara filed a petition to change her surname in June, which led to the court’s decision. A source familiar with the situation noted that Brad Pitt, 62, finds it difficult to accept that his children do not want to be associated with his surname.
According to Us Weekly, Zahara’s siblings—Maddox, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne—have also renounced the Pitt surname in recent years. In 2024, the court approved Shiloh’s request to change her surname, and Maddox received a similar ruling in May. Vivienne was also referred to as «Vivienne Jolie» in the credits on Broadway.
