Zac Bryan performed on the stage of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on October 2, wearing a shirt that read «Free Palestine». This gesture was likely in support of rapper Macklemore, who was banned from the stadium after making a similar statement during his performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The stadium owner, Robert Kraft, previously announced that Macklemore would not be allowed on the premises following his remarks. After this, the rapper was removed from the remaining eight shows of his tour, although Ed Sheeran, the tour organizer, publicly denied the information about his dismissal and donated $ 2 million for humanitarian aid.
Following Macklemore’s exclusion, other tour participants, such as Finneas and Lukas Graham, also left the project in a show of solidarity. Sheeran, returning to the stage on September 19 in Philadelphia, apologized to the audience for mismanaging the situation regarding Macklemore’s exclusion and emphasized the importance of free speech.
Macklemore, for his part, announced the start of his own «Free Palestine» tour and noted that significant changes in the perception of the Palestinian struggle have occurred over the past three years. He stressed that wealthy individuals should not have the power to determine which voices can be heard on stage.
