Zendaya gives fans a sneak peek of her upcoming sports drama «Challenges» and poses in a series of unique outfits for her latest photoshoot for Vogue. The fashionable ensembles featured various themes — on the cover, the 27-year-old actress is covered with a large rose, she lounges on a bed of leaves, and in another shot she is in a bridal gown with a floral coverlet.
Other photos from the shoot included Zendaya in a yellow strapless maxi dress and one where she climbs an artistic sculptural wall, dressed in a golden outfit.
During an interview for the magazine published on Tuesday, April 9, the star of «Dune: Part Two» talked about the character she plays in «Challenges»: Tashi Duncan.
«I mean, listen, she takes it to a whole new level», - Zendaya explained, recalling how she trained for the role. «But I would say, yeah, I’m competitive, in the sense that I want to work a lot, and I try not to compete with anyone else. I’m just trying to be like, I’ve already done this, okay, now I need to do better».
The actress empathized with her character through their similar competitiveness, which sometimes «paralyzes» her in reality.
«I think I was trying to empathize with my character — because that’s my job, although I think she does some things that I absolutely would never do — in that no one asks: 'Tashi, are you okay? What do you need?'» Zendaya pointed out. «She just always takes control of everything, and no one takes that responsibility off her. She makes all the decisions. She does all of this. So, I imagine she really gives commands. She’s like, a mom to everyone».
As fans know her for roles that are not as controversial as the character Tashi (as Tashi uses sex and some manipulation to pit two male athletes against each other), Zendaya admitted that she initially thought the character was «a little crazy» after reading the script.
«I usually play someone that you ultimately empathize with», - she said. «There was something about her that seemed very, 'Oh, damn'. Even I was a little scared of her»
