Zoë Kravitz recalls a difficult time in her life. During a new interview with Esquire, published on Wednesday, August 14, the 35-year-old actress remembered a «hurtful» moment when she «left» her mother Lisa Bonet to live with her father Lenny Kravitz after her parents' divorce.

«I was very hurt that I left her to be with my dad, and my dad wasn’t even there», - she told the publication. «I just wanted to learn to appreciate what she did for me».

Since Lisa’s home in California was stricter than Lenny’s home in Florida, Zoë had a different lifestyle with him.

«It was a whirlwind of a completely different universe», - she said of Lenny’s visits during her childhood. «And then I would come home to this very quiet, very simple life». When it comes to her rock star father, the «Batman» actress noted that the hitmaker of «American Woman» is «very trusting and sweet».

However, the «Divergent» actress now understands that Lisa «was so focused on preserving [her] innocence. [Her] creativity. Because she knew that’s the world — and it’s not coming back», - Zoë told the publication.

Lisa and Lenny were together in the late 1980s to early 1990s. They were married for six years before divorcing in 1993. Despite the divorce, the former spouses maintained a close relationship in co-parenting Zoë throughout her life.

As they are closely connected, Lenny and Lisa try to support their daughter, including in her current relationship with fiancé Channing Tatum, who stars in «Blink Twice».

The actress of «Big Little Lies» and star of «Magic Mike», - 44-year-old Channing Tatum, are not rushing into marriage, Zoë clarified during the interview. And when it comes to the thought of children, Zoë pointed out the «pressure on women to have children».

«For a long time, I felt like something was wrong with me», - she explained. «I waited for a light bulb to go off in my head, but it never did. When you’re young, you think, 'Well, I can’t have kids. I’m too young! That would be crazy.' I really had to think, 'What do I want?' … There’s a lot of pressure on women to have children, and there’s a feeling that if you don’t have them, you have no purpose here. But this movie ['Blink Twice'] - it’s like I gave birth»
