Star of the show «1000-Lb. Sisters» Amy Slaton was arrested on charges of illegal drug possession and endangering children, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office reported. Authorities announced this on Monday, September 2, via Facebook, noting that police responded to a call after a guest was bitten by a camel at a local zoo in Alamo, Tennessee.
«Amy Slaton Halterman, star of the reality show '1000-Lb. Sisters,' was arrested for illegal possession of drugs of group I, illegal possession of drugs of group VI, and two counts of endangering children», - the sheriff’s office message on Facebook read, accompanied by a photo of Slaton.
In another part of the social media announcement, authorities included a photo of another person who was arrested alongside Slaton: Brian Scott Lovvorn.
«Both suspects were booked into the Crockett County Jail», - the sheriff’s office noted in their statement. «Deputies were instructed to go to the Safari Park, where a visitor was allegedly bitten by a camel. Upon arrival, deputies immediately detected suspicious odors emanating from the guest’s vehicle».
At the end of their message, the Crockett County police concluded: «The charges and allegations mentioned in this message are merely accusations of criminal activity and are not evidence. The accused is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted in accordance with the legal process».
It is unclear who claimed to have been bitten by a camel at the zoo. Slaton has not yet commented on her arrest publicly.
Last year, Slaton and her ex-husband Michael Halterman separated in March 2023. They finalized their divorce in the same year. The former spouses co-parent their sons Gage and Glenn together and have agreed to share custody of the children.
In a December 2023 episode of «1000-Lb. Sisters», - Slaton talked about what led to the breakup with Halterman.
«I told him over and over and over again. 'If you don’t change, I’m leaving,'» she told producers.
During the show, TLC staff also claimed that her ex-husband did not want to be alone with both of their children at the same time.
